Medical Assessments & Adapted Vehicle

Motor-Ed Driving School are registered with the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland to deliver On-Road Driving Assessments under the National Office for Traffic Medicine.

An on-road driving assessment may be required by a doctor when a person with an age-related or medical condition wants to begin, continue or return to driving. The assessment is required to ensure that there is the necessary level of both physical and mental fitness to operate the vehicle safely and to minimize risk.

The assessment would include a range of driving situations that the driver would normally face when driving on a day-to-day basis in their local area. A report detailing the route taken, hazards encountered, and overall driving standard would be issued to your physician upon completion.

We have also added to our fleet with our new fully adapted automatic car. Our car is suitable for anyone with reduced mobility that would like to start learning how to drive. We also offer driver rehabilitation for those wishing to return to driving following an illness or medical condition or anyone needing support driving while using adaptions.

Adaptions to our car include:
– Push & Pull Hand Controls
– Left or Right Foot Accelerator
– Steering Wheel Spinner
– Electric Seat Adjuster
Our training centre is based on Coes Road West, Dundalk A91 W657 and provides full accessibility for all users.
